Groups
A group is the main organisational unit in Kinkeep. It represents a colony, a foster family, a shelter section, or any other logical collection of animals.
Group types

What a group contains
- Name and optional description.
- Location — address plus optional GPS coordinates (latitude / longitude) displayed on a map.
- Photo — a logo or representative image.
- Animals — the individual animals that belong to the group.
- Group-level entries — notes, events, or media that apply to the group as a whole rather than to a single animal.
Reading and editing a group
A group is read and corrected on its own page, field by field: there is no settings screen. Each of the name, the kind, the address and the description carries a pencil, and the photograph and the location are changed where they are shown. Nothing is submitted, and what has been typed is saved shortly after it stops changing.
Only coordination and management can change a group. A collaborator reads it and nothing more; the API refuses the write as well as the screen hiding the pencil.
People, affiliations and scheduled state
Three things a group keeps beyond its own fields have a screen of their own, reached from the menu on the group's page:
- People — who holds which role over the group.
- Affiliations — the organisations the group works with.
- Scheduled state — the group's state produced on a rhythm of its own.
Each has its own address, its own breadcrumb and a way back to the group.
Organisations and access
A group can be affiliated with one or more organisations, and can just as well have none. The organisation does not own the group: dissolving it leaves the group and its animals untouched.
Belonging to an organisation grants no access to its affiliated groups. To work with a group you need a role in that group. See People and roles.
Group timeline
The group timeline aggregates all entries from the group itself and all its animals in a single chronological feed. You can filter it by entry type (medical, weight, notes, media).
What the page shows
The group page has tabs: the animals it keeps, its calendar, the timeline of everything recorded, its reports and, for coordination and management, its money.
