Features

Everything the colony application can do for the animals in your care.

Group management

Organise animals into colonies, shelters, households, or any custom group. Each group has its own profile, an optional GPS location, and a combined timeline showing every entry from the group and all its members in one place.

Full medical history

Record every vet visit with its diagnosis, treatment notes, the attending clinic and staff member, and a next-appointment date that shows up in the calendar on its own. The result is a complete, searchable health record for each animal.

Prescription tracking

Attach prescriptions to a medical visit, with the drug, the dose, the frequency (from every 2 h to every 48 h) and the duration. Individual dose events are generated in the calendar, so a pill is not missed because somebody lost count.

Interactive calendar

One calendar aggregates custom events, upcoming vet appointments and active prescription schedules across every group. Filter by group or by individual member to see only what matters right now.

Weight and trend tracking

Log weight measurements over time and see at a glance whether an animal is gaining, losing or stable against the previous record. Kilograms, grams and pounds are all supported.

Rich timeline

Every member and every group has a chronological timeline of its entries: medical visits, weight logs, notes, photos and events. Filter by type to find what you are after in seconds.

Photos and attachments

Attach photos and files to any entry or member profile. Document a wound, follow physical progress after surgery, or simply keep a photographic record of each animal over the years.

Multi-user organisations

Several volunteers share one instance under a single organisation, which has its own name, logo, registration number and user list. This is what makes the record survive a change of volunteer.

Free software, self-hosted

The application is AGPL-3.0-or-later and you run it yourself, with a single podman compose up. No subscription, no advertising, and no data on somebody else's server. See Installation.
