Features
Everything Kinkeep can do for the animals in your care.
Group management
Organise animals into colonies, shelters, households, or any custom group. Each group has its own profile, an optional GPS location, and a combined timeline showing every entry from the group and all its animals in one place.
Full medical history
Record every vet visit with its diagnosis, treatment notes, the attending clinic and staff member. The result is a complete, searchable health record for each animal.
Courses of medicine
A course is a recurring entry: give this, every so many hours or days, for this long. The calendar works its occurrences out from the rule, so a course that runs for months costs nothing to keep, and nothing tries to count the doses against what was actually given.
A calendar that is also a timeline
One calendar holds everything with a moment: consultations, weights, notes, activities, and the occurrences of every course. Filter by group or by animal. A single occurrence of a series can be skipped, moved or noted, and the rest of the series is untouched.
Calendars elsewhere
Subscribe to a group's or an animal's calendar from the application you already use, or download it as an iCalendar file. See Calendar feeds.
Weight and trend tracking
Log weight measurements over time and see at a glance whether an animal is gaining, losing or stable against the previous record. Kilograms, grams and pounds are all supported.
Rich timeline
Every animal and every group has a chronological timeline of its entries: medical visits, weight logs, notes, photos and events. Filter by type to find what you are after in seconds.
Photos and attachments
Attach photos and files to any entry or animal profile. Document a wound, follow physical progress after surgery, or simply keep a photographic record of each animal over the years.
Multi-user organisations
Several volunteers share one instance under a single organisation, which has its own name, logo, registration number and user list. This is what makes the record survive a change of volunteer.
An API you can call yourself
Everything the web client does is a documented HTTP call, and an account can issue API keys to drive it from a script, a scheduled job or a terminal. A key carries exactly what its owner may do, always expires, and can be taken away on its own. See API keys.
Free software, self-hosted
The application is AGPL-3.0-or-later and you run it yourself, with a single
podman compose up. No subscription, no advertising, and no data on somebody
else's server. See Deployment.
