Reading the board

The board is public. There is nothing to install, no account, and no login.

One page, no pagination

Every missing animal is on a single scrolling page. This is deliberate: a person searching for their own animal, or trying to place one they have just found, should not have to work out which page it is on.

Each animal shows its photos, its name, its kind, and a phone number to call. The phone number is the point of the whole board, so it is never more than one glance away.

Narrowing it down

Two controls, both applied as you use them, without reloading the page:

• Filter by kind, between cat, dog and other.
• Search by name, if you know it.

Clearing both puts you back to the full board.

Animals that have been found

A found animal is not deleted. It moves to the bottom of the board and is clearly marked as found, and it keeps the date it turned up.

Leaving it there matters more than it looks. Somebody who saw the poster last week and thinks they have spotted the animal today needs to be able to check whether the search is still on, and an entry that simply vanished tells them nothing.

If you have found an animal

Call the number on the entry that looks like a match. If nothing on the board matches, contact the organisation that runs it, because posting an entry needs an account and they are the ones who have one.
